Kicking off 2018 CSR Activities: A learning session at GEMS Wellington Dubai

For a little over one hour, a group of very bright students from GEMS Science, Technology, Engineering and Math club engaged in lively session about Energy use, Climate Change and the benefits of LED technology. The kids were quick to understand how their actions can contribute to energy savings, committing to shut off lights, TVs and reduce the use of other electronics. Some even volunteering to turn off the household refrigerator!

    The highlights of the session?

A shocking image of snowfall in the Saudi desert, a climate change phenomenon that started happening in 2013 and now occurs almost every winter.

A live demonstration on the differences between a LED and other conventional bulbs, where students immediately notice the difference in the temperature of the lamps and how much energy is wasted in CFLi and GLS by heat generation instead of light.

The presentation to the students was led by our colleagues Sanam Siddique and Joseph Bejjani, while drawing activity and the live lighting demonstration was supported by Ibrahim Barazi (Digital Marketing) , Veira Dyab, Olav Scholte, and Luiza Salvino, the CSR leader for MET.
