Helping an insurance giant
go green
when it not only fulfils all ergonomic criteria, but also decreases energy consumption and preserves the environment. This is why the modern, very attractive light solution from Philips makes us feel good all round.”
- Joachim Hoff, Facility management/Technology, Provinzial Rheinland Versicherung AG
The company’s base in Düsseldorf was definitely in need of some light renovation. The lighting was 16 years old, and used power-hungry halogen bulbs. Some of the office lighting had special designs, so could only be changed marginally. Philips had to design an eco-friendly alternative using the existing number and position of light points. The new system needed to pay for itself quickly, and fulfil exact ambience requirements.
The first step was to replace all the halogen bulbs in public areas, like washrooms and canteens, with 1,300 StyliD Mini LED-integral spotlights. These new lights have created a warm, welcoming ambience around the building. They are well suited to the job thanks to their attractive design and low energy consumption. DayWave LED pendants were used to create a dynamic atmosphere in food areas.
To guarantee a productive environment in meeting rooms, Luxpace Compact downlights were fitted. These eye-friendly fixtures have excellent color stability and energy-efficient performance. In the multi-storey car park, safe visibility was brought in by Spot LED 3 lights. In lifts and at serving counters, MASTER LED lamps were fitted. The building is now benefiting from increased visual comfort and glare-free visibility.
As a result of the modern lighting solutions, the building is making energy savings of up to 80%. The old lamps had a lifetime of 2,000 hours, but the new LED lamps last about 50,000 hours. As a result, maintenance costs will decrease considerably.
